MC Router's New Tattoo
Girl, you crazy.
It doesn't even look fully colored in. Look at the light areas around the letters.... Couldn't you have tattooed a monitor screen on there or something?
Wow. That's all I can say.

Guy Buys Old Farmhouse, Discovers Barn Full of Cars!
Talk about a treasure trove. This pic is dark, but there appear to be at least 150 cars in there, many of them classics in excellent condition.

Britney Spears Shaves Her Head!
Clearly, this is a time-shifting moment in Hollywood history. Forever, we will be forced to divide the celebrity time line between the "Pre-Sheared Spears" and "Baldy Spears" eras.
I have to confess: I love her now.
Apparently, she got a couple of tattoos at the same time. How balsy is that?

Wheel of Food
Next time, use the Wheel of Food and never suffer from indecision again. Just enter your zip code and wish for the best.
I entered my zip code and noticed it was pretty accurate about the restaurants in the area. It even listed a few new options I would never actually consider. This is a very nice way to solve those office arguments over where to go for lunch.

Dixie Chicks Vindicated!
Admittedly, I did say I would never listen to the Dixie Chicks, but I happened to catch them performing on VH1's Storytellers just a few minutes ago. That Song of the Year was good. A well-deserved award, even if I do dislike Country Music. Never back down, Chicks. Never.

Looking for a Contractor? Try Service Magic.
This time was different.
I don't remember where I came across the link to Service Magic, but I'm so glad I did. I signed up with them (it's free) and started looking for Contractors in my area. The entire process was quick and painless. Literally 5 minutes after I was done, I got my first call from a contractor! I was astonished. Could this really be someone calling to set up an appointment for an estimate? It was. Shortly after I hung up with him, someone else called. Then I got several more calls during the day. In fact, I had contractors calling me up the yin-yang, all week! I even had one guy call me at 8 AM (needless to say, he didn't get hired).
So far, we've signed on with three contractors, all of whom have been very professional, fully credentialed, and very economical. I highly recommend this service to anyone who needs to make improvements to their home. They even have listings for service people (maids, gutter washers, computer repair persons... you name it).
A couple of days ago, I got a call from a Project Manager at Service Magic who was given the task of working with me to find contractors and make sure they were on task. I was like, wow. And this guy was no slouch. After I ignored his voice mail, he followed up with an email and another call. Service Magic is on the ball. They do their job almost too well!
If you need any kind of service done on your home, this is an excellent place to start.
If anything, the only problem you'll have is making it look like it was hard work finding these people. I'm reminded of the commercial where the woman sprinkles flour on her face to appear as if baking rice crispy treats is actually laborious. Somehow, I doubt flour will do the trick, in this case.

Using Ms. Dewey
At first, I was charmed by Ms. Dewey. She is fairly attractive, in that ambiguous minority, librarian sort of way. And she's also a bit flirtatious, almost coy.
But even before I start using Ms. Dewey, I'm a bit put off by the notion of doing it. There's something vaguely sexist about this whole thing. It's a bit disturbing. I feel guilty already, and I haven't even asked her any questions yet.
I decide to post about her, because the interface is kind of cool. So I bring up Blogger and leave Ms. Dewey running on another tab in the background.
Within a few seconds, she's making herself persistent. She knocks on the screen and mutters: "Anyone there?"
I switch over and see she's grown annoyed with me.
Already? She's actually copping 'tude!
Soon she whips out a PDA or a notebook, into which she scribbles something juicy, all the while peering at me from behind the cover.
She makes some declaration about ruling the world and gives a sinister laugh.
Soon, she's looking down, as if she's checking out my package, and then she has the nerve to snicker!
Okay, so now this is simply emasculating.
By this point, I haven't asked Ms. Dewey anything at all and she's already gotten sassy, flirty, annoyed, and downright rude with me.
"Hello!" she says. "Type something here," while she points down at the search bar with conviction.
I decide maybe I should just hold off on using Ms. Dewey, for now. I'm afraid her constant chastising has ruined the mood for me.

15 Year Old Girl Charged with Sexual Abuse (of herself)
15-year old girl posts nude photos of herself on the internet. She's arrested and has her computer confiscated. Now she's being charged with sexual abuse of children, possession of child pornography, and dissemination of child pornography.
Hm. I'm not sure I have any snarky comments that can do this justice.

Having Technical Difficulties
Shortly after booting up, my computer loads my personal settings, then hangs eternally, showing my background of Banksy art (incidentally, I never knew he was so prolific).
Fortunately, my information has been sufficiently backed up. Now I just need to wait for the system disk to be shipped from eMachines. I won't even go into that. Suffice it to say, I'm paying $20 for a disk that should have been included with my machine when I bought it.
I've had Shaman (my desktop -- yes, I name my computers. I'm a dork) for around 2-3 years now, so I'm not surprised it finally had a mental breakdown. Fortunately, I'm not in the middle of any major projects.
And in a stroke of luck, my awesome fiance recently bought me a brand spanking new laptop (who I have christened Noirling). It was just in the nick of time, evidently; but it's not so simple to type on a laptop. I have to admit, I'm spoiled by my Microsoft ergonomic keyboard. Typing on a flat keyboard just seems alien to me now.
In any event, I should be back up and running within the next week or so, but will be posting sporadically until then.
